A Qualitative Look at Cognitive Behavioral Therapy versus Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa

This is a 9 page paper using a qualitative approach to study cognitive behavioral therapy versus family therapy for treatment of anorexia nervosa. A qualitative study of cognitive behavioral therapy versus family therapy for treatment of anorexia nervosa includes various non-experimental components. Firstly, a statement of the problem introduces the prevalence of anorexia and the need for successful treatment in this disease which claims over 10 percent of those diagnosed. The statement of the problem is then followed by the purpose for the study, if any assumptions can be made and a qualitative review of the current methods of therapies. Several therapies have been used in the treatment of patients with anorexia which includes cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and group therapy, family therapy and pharmacotherapy as well as nutritional counseling. In this study, an assessment of the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy and that of family therapy are examined through a comparative view of current literature.

A Study Design to Examine Teenage Obesity and Sedentary Lifestyles

This is a 3 page paper discussing factors which should be included in a design for the study of teen obesity and sedentary lifestyle. A study design to examine the relationship between teen obesity and sedentary lifestyles should include a number of factors. A literature review would examine past studies of teen obesity and sedentary lifestyle or activity levels; studies on teen obesity and its causes; and studies on teen lifestyles. The theoretical framework should include a hypothesis and study outline which would take into account other factors which may also be causing teen obesity. Because of the various factors which may be involved, a large study group would be recommended and the survey distribution would be most effective through the school system which has recorded large response rates with other health related surveys in the past. In addition, investigators will have to determine the definitions to be used in the study based on commonly used references, such as BMI, and what indicators they wish to properly measure and compare for a high confidence level in their findings.

The debate over legal abortions is still considered controversial in many countries throughout the world yet millions of abortions still take place despite the fact that abortion is still illegal in many countries. From a moral or ethical standpoint, abortion is actually a morally responsible decision by a woman in order to protect her own health and the medical profession has an ethical responsibility to support this protection of women�s health. From a religious standpoint, religions around the globe differ in their definition of what is considered a human being in regards to fetal maturity and abortion is widely accepted by many religions. Legally, countries should allow for the medical profession to provide safe medical clinics for women to obtain abortions in order to end the number of unnecessary deaths of women who must obtain abortions in unsafe environments and support the right of protection of women�s health.
