INR Stability with the Involvement of a Nurse Educator
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses the international normalized ratio or INR and how a nurse educators efforts can assure that INR stability is maintained on a more consistent basis. There are a number of indications for oral anticoagulation therapy, most having to do with the use of mechanical devices to maintain a patients cardiac functioning. Therefore, it is essential that it be maintained on a consistent basis and without wide variances in overall INR. Because the INR concept is one that is directly related to how caregivers make determinations of the next option in a patients care, the efficacy of management by a nurse educator cannot truly be questioned. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Insulin and Diabetes
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing the chemical action of insulin, which has been misunderstood for decades. As researchers made discoveries that led them to believe they had discovered answers, frequently it was revealed that all that had been "discovered" was more questions. After decades of believing that excess sugar in the diet does not specifically cause diabetes, researchers have found results that suggest such could be the case, or at least contribute to the emergence of the condition. Again, what has been discovered is not an answer, but represents yet another question. Bibliography lists 8 sources. Includes an abstract.

[ send me this paper ]
11 pages in length. Jet lag has been traced to a disruption of sleep patterns, and many who either research the effects or experience them agree that the most effective treatment centers on treating sleep disruption. The manner of treatment is controversial, however. There are proprietary sleep-inducing drugs and there is naturally-occurring melatonin. Laser in Situ Keratomileusis or LASIK
[ send me this paper ]
This 8 page report discusses the surgical technique most commonly known as LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis). It is the most promising and most effective surgical correction for poor vision currently available. With the LASIK procedure, the surgeon uses a razor-like instrument to gently lift a flap of the patients cornea and then uses a laser to reshape the area that has been exposed. That process of reshaping causes the way the eye focuses light to change. As a result of that change, the procedure corrects nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (presbyopia), and some astigmatism. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
