Popular Vote Verses the Electoral Process
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page overview of the electoral process and how it contrasts with the popular vote. Provides a historical background for the implementation of the electoral process pointing out that the process was never intended to reflect popular will. Contends that this process is superior because it protects the interests of smaller states against the overwhelming population of the larger states. Provides several statistics from the 1988 and 2000 presidential elections which illustrate that smaller states are given a slight advantage over the larger states in that the individual vote from these states is more powerful than the individual vote in the larger states. President Bush: Popularity Before And After September 11th
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. It is quite amazing the impact a singular event can have upon the face of history, particularly when that event is as politically and socially catastrophic as the September 11th terrorist attacks. This date marked the day when many things changed for many people with regard to personal issues and concerted fears of national safety. Something else changed that day, however, that marked yet another monumental by-product of the terrorist attacks that forever altered America's support for its president. Indeed, September 11th is now known as the turning point in George W. Bush's presidential career, inasmuch as his approval rating soared in alliance with his defiant dedication to supporting his American constituency in this time of great trouble. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Presidential Candidates and Philosophical Tradition
[ send me this paper ]
This
excellent 5 page paper discusses the fact that philosophy is an
academic arena which most view as having little to do with the
real world. In viewing the presidential hopefuls, however, and
studying their party platforms, we can see how some of their
policies and views reflect statements and ideals set by such
philosophers as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean-Jacques
Rousseau. Describes how the beliefs and visions by each of the
presidential candidates presented are inherently linked in some
way to some or all of these philosophers.

Presidential Candidates' Positions on the Death Penalty
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper
examining three candidates' positions on the death penalty and the writer's reactions to those
position. Until the last presidential election, it was thought that all campaigns had a definite,
decisive end, but it is difficult to determine when campaigning truly begins. Party affiliation helps
define candidates' positions on issues such as economic policy and defense spending, but
candidates often are more circumspect about matters that move beyond abstract policy. In the
most recent presidential campaign, George W. Bush, Al Gore and Pat Buchanan all indicate that
they support the death penalty, but all have differing views. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Presidential Election 2000

Columbus, Ohio suburb said she "is not pleased with
either of the presidential candidates, and has
gotten tired of voting for the "lesser of two evils.

smart he is" Bibliography lists 10 sources.
