Factors Influencing Juvenile Delinquency
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page discussion of the myriad of factors which influence juvenile delinquency. Specifically addresses family structure and factors such as maternal separation and parental rejection, noting that while such factors have been demonstrated to be important determinants his correlation is far from perfect. While one might jump to the conclusion that juvenile delinquency might be directly accounted for by the irresponsible actions of a parent or specific family structure, there has been one incident after another when parents took every possible means of insuring societally appropriate behavior in their children and juvenile delinquency still occurs. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Factors Influencing Personality
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page analysis of the many factors which can influence personality and the degree to which personality either stays stable or varies over time. While there is undoubtedly a connection between genetics and personality, a far more important determinant is culture and the manner and degree to which an individual interacts with others. It can be proposed, in fact, that the degree to which an individuals personality changes over time is determined by such factors as social interaction, experiences, and sometimes even disease or the use of drugs or alcohol. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Family Function And Its Affect Upon Adolescence: Comparison Of Two Articles
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. There can be no argument surrounding the fact that family dynamics -- that is the interaction patterns between members, as well as the manner in which the family functions together -- are influential with regard to adolescent psychological development. Two articles clearly depict the association between family life and how a child's psychopathology inevitably develops: "Parental Conflict And Self Esteem: The Rest Of The Story" by Pawlak and Klein, and Shek's "The Relation Of Family Functioning To Adolescent Psychological Well-Being, School Adjustment, And Problem Behavior." While both articles address the inherent importance of bringing children up in a loving, healthy environment, they each bring to light the consequences of what occurs when such a home life is not the case. The writer discusses how adolescent children who spend their formative years within the confines of a hostile or dysfunctional family setting are significantly more prone to detrimental psychological development. No additional sources cited.
