Feminist Science Fiction: A Stereotypical Literary Genre in Itself?

An 11 page discussion of feminist preferences and content in science fiction. Contends that the creation of the literary genre of �feminist science fiction� is in reality an injustice to feminist as that genre makes the assumption that writing content and preference is determined by gender. This genre requires a literary work to feature women rather than men. This paper points out that the author�s likes and dislikes in science fiction have little to do with the gender of the author or whether the primary plot features a woman or a man. The author contends that such a categorization severely limits the type of work which is acceptable under this proposed genre. We must ask ourselves, is it any more fair to limit a feminist�s creative output than it is to limit her occupation or perceived societal role?
